Pⁿ―Powers of PLAY―

Concept
With problems occurring and new values emerging every day, this contemporary world demands survivors with a certain sensitivity and the ability to adapt these changes in a free and flexible manner.
PLAY is a practice that invites us to enter heterotopia, a space that could release us from the rules and conventions of the real world, thereby allowing us to experience another world while staying in the real world.
This exhibition introduces 9 artists, both upcoming and established, of which some have not yet been widely introduced in Japan. The playful space that is produced through various ways of expression, such as painting, sculpture and graffiti, reintroduces visitors to the power that can effortlessly transform the weight of a situation; “Power of PLAY”.
The title of this exhibition, “Pⁿ—Powers of PLAY—”, is derived from the word “PLAY”. The letter P also suggests “Practice”, “Pleasure”, “Pop”, etc. We hope visitors’ imagination can be triggered to enjoy the word play of P freely.
